Aphex Twin





Think I may have been a little harsh on Aphex Twin in the last couple of posts. 'Contempt for the consumer' is hardly fair, as although the Analord series already appears a touch long in the tooth, his work represents far better value for money than most

I think the comparison between Rossz Csillag Allat Született and AFX's Girl/Boy EP is valid in terms of sound, but given that the Aphex record is the best part of 10 years older than Venetian Snares' effort, to compare them in terms of quality and complexity is unreasonable

The very fact that a lot of people describe the current stage of the development of electronic music as 'post-aphex' illustrates the massive impact he has had on music. Old masters inevitably attract criticism, and I suppose this is the way development and change is sustained in culture. And this track is nearly 10 years old! Still sounds awesome as far as I'm concerned...
